The Grand Finals for Wednesday is here, and the most competitive night comes to a head with the best 2 of Division 1 and 2 facing off for the ultimate prize, the UBL championship.
Div 2 started off with a bang, the 1 v 2 matchup Splash vs Buckets. Splash are a perimter shooting team with a 4 out 1 in offense at times swining it around for the best whot, usually a 3, and a splash!, Buckets on the other hand work their game from the post and mid range keeping up the hustle on D to get stops.
The First quarter whistle blew to start and the tip went to Splash, Nitin opened with 2 quick 3s but it was back and forth from there..the
1st quarter score was 18-15 Splash up, 4/7 3s for the quarter giving
them the edge with 3 more rebounds also.
By the end of the 2nd quarter was a 5 point gap, the FG% Splash 48% and Buckets 41% with not much in it but a 3 and a free throw or 2. Top performers for the
half were ANthony G on 11 and 5 rebs, Jake B on 8, Splash had Ahmad
start a great game with 9pts 4asts 3stls 4 rebs on 50% shooting. Score,
34-29.
Nitin came out strong 2nd half with a 3 to go with his perfect from deep run as did Chili who was also a perfect 3 giving them a 51-35 lead with 12 minutes left in the game, the run was quick and deadly.
4th Quarter saw the splash crew continue their run until the closing minutes where Buckets made a run to throw a last ditch effort at the Splash , some threes were made including a Bank 3 from Anthony G worth $50 apparently according the Buckets bench, but the last shots weren’t enough as the Splash barrage of 3s ended with 9 threes to Buckets 5, Free throws werent shot as well by Splash but their extra 3s saved them, all other stats were pretty on par showing the close levels of these 2 teams, a great battle.
Top Performers in the Finals were ANthony G on a 20 points 10 rebounds double double on 70% FG% a great stat game, Jake B on 12pts 6rebs as well as 4 ast and 3 steals, and Joe E on 13pts 7rebs.
Splash performers were Mat Le on a solid 17 point 11 reb beast double double on 67% shooting, ADrian on 14 points, getting his floater and 3 going Amhad with an epic all round game 12pts 5rebs 5ast 4stls!
Well done to Splash! Division 2 champions, and well done also to Buckets, unlucky, but gracious in defeat a team that has shot up the ranks so quickly only to be beat from an established UBL franchise, the now Div2 champs, SPLASH!
Hogz vs Grey Geese, the Matchup from last year and many years previous as this team, the Hogz were the reason this Grey Geese Superteam was created, and they went at it from the 1st siren, Grey Geese getting the upper hand from a beast like start from Luke M on 13 points 3 assists on 63% shooting, L Rich had already pulled down 6 boards at this point and Kristian J had 8, as Aaron Puljic streaked in for 7 points to lead the Hogz, but the TFG% was 33% Hogz to 54% grey geese and the rebounds 14 to grey geese and 5 to hogz, telling signs of undersized rebounders!
2nd quarter was no different, with L Rich scraping up every rebound, he

Notable Performances of the night from Grey Geese was a huge night from Luke M points, 9 assists 4 rebs 2 stls to spearhead the attack and secure the game for the Geese, D Lemme a very efficient game with 16pt 5rebs and Nick B doin it form 3 (3/5) for an 11 point 12 reb double double, Luke Rich just short of a double double with a huge 19 rebound game.
Hogz big players included Azza P on 21 points 6 ast and 3 rebs wowing everyone with this speed and slashing ability the young UBL phenom becoming one of the best players in UBL, Nate P got his own with 21 points and 10 rebounds, and Doctor J, Elliot, went for 12 points and 8rebs, plus 4 steals, great game by the team that went down!
Congrats to Grey Geese, a third Div 1 chip for the franchise and how many more can they get? can anyone overcome their chemistry? Unlucky to the Hogz, making almost every Grand finals for the past few seasons! the rivalry can only get better!
