Division 1 would get things started off with the Hogz vs Bombers and this game would go down to the wire in the biggest way in the biggest game on the biggest stage… Berkeley New South Wales… The most skilled division saw the best two teams face-off and it started with the Hogz getting busy on the midrange and inside as well as capitalising on their free throws…. Whilst Bombers started getting 3s up early to test their luck… attacking inside & out but trailing five points at the quarter…
Second quarter saw the Bombers come out of the locker room with extra hustle and were able to bridge the gap from the first quarter shooting better from 3 which allowed them to get within a bucket…. By the end of the half leading scorer on the Hogz was Jake p with 9 points and Elliot with 7… Bombers had Andrew get things going with 10 points for the half and Luke A with 7 points…
Third quarter saw the Hogz get up a little bit as their extra passes paid off with some nice looks inside shooting 61% so far… John F steps up big time as he knocked a few threes and scored 8 points in the quarter.. the battle on the boards still even and the defence too close for open shots.. Hogz were up 54 to 48 by the break and a fourth quarter would be a blockbuster…
Not giving up on both ends was what kept the Bombers in this as they scraped their way back how to draw even mid quarter and kept on until the last minute both teams pushing the fast break and fighting for the ball and forcing contact inside. Hogz down 5 down , 1 minute 10 to go aza hit Nate with his patented pocket 3 which landed. followed by a clear path foul, aza hit 2 free throws to go up 72-70, but Boj came right back up court to hit a 2 poitn hook to tie the game at 72 each…and the final play went to Hogz who pulled out the luckiest play where Nate controversially tapped a missed 3 back into court to Dan W for a quick flip shot which went in to seal the championship!
Top statistics this game from the HOgz were Aaron P with 22 points on 55% shooting, Jake P with 14pts on 71% shooting, and Dan W with a 10pt 9reb game including the game winner at the buzzer! the team shot 49% and we 62% inside the arc.
BOmbers had Andrew Boj get 25 points 5 assists on 44% shooting to lead the way and John F, a great game with 16 points on 67% and Luke A on 10 points 6 rebs, the team won the boards battle 36-30 and edged the Hogz with assists and 3pointers made..
Well done to Hogz to get their 5th championship in the division, and well played to Bombers, fought till the end and went down in the unluckiest of ways, the basketball gods did not shine on them this game, but much respect to them and great season to all who competed in UBLs toughest Division.
Div 2 was ready and waiting to face off as The Mates had a score to settle with Dellys Disciples the 1st and 2nd ranks!
The Mates started strong with their usual structure allowing Bok to get a few 3s up as well as drawing some shooting fouls to give them an 8-point lead by the end of the quarter Delly’s Disciples did well to stop the fast break and attacked the midrange but they had some work to do in the second quarter…

The third quarter played on and by the end we had the teams even at 37 as both teams pushed the inside play and got some easy buckets and free throws… The Mates still trying to get some threes to go whilst Delly’s Disciples we’re all inside the arc… No team took the advantage or momentum this quarter..
The last 12 minutes of the game saw the Mates step it up on the rebounds and also hitting on a few threes to break the lead open mid quarter…. the matde’s got some unanswered points as they share the ball around to get some open looks.. Delly’s Disciples had Toby still Leading in scoring but needed someone else to step up… Which this game didn’t happen and they werent able to close the Mates out of the lanes, who were keeping their offensive structure and not giving Delly’s Disciples space to shoot..
Top stat getters were Cameron Bok on 21 points and 10 rebounds 4 steals.. lachy CR running the team from the point bar position with 17 points 5 assists 4 rebounds on 45% shooting.. and from Delly’s Disciples Toby shanks with 20 points 6 rebounds making 11 of 12 free throws.. Finton pulled in 11 rebounds 2 blocks..
The difference this game was the 3 point shooting from the mates.. as they hit 5 more threes then Delly’s Disciples all other categories were pretty even the Mates with four more assists and 2 more steals..
Congratulations to the Mates to take down the number one rank for the season… The game was close for three quarters and these teams were stand out in the Div as proven by this game.. Delly’s Disciples had a great season just to fall short in the finals but look out this teams is hungry.!
